“It is so gratifying to see the impact the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County has made in its first two years,” said Jayne Klein, 2011-12 president of the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County. “The grants are changing lives of women and children through a broad scope of organizations, from providing educational opportunities to children to fighting domestic violence to assisting single parents.”

The Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County, founded in 2010, is dedicated to engaging women of all generations in the power of community philanthropy to address the needs of women and families. Ninety-four women are members, which grew from 53 its first year. The Giving Circle funds are held and managed by the Community Foundation of Harford County as a group donor-advised fund.

“Thanks to the grant from the Women’s Giving Circle of Harford County, Family & Children’s Services will be able to provide 19 additional supervised visitations between children and their parents who would not normally be able to spend time together due to safety concerns,” said Jennifer Redding, director of trauma services for Family & Children’s Services of Central Maryland. “Our Harford County Visitation Center provides a safe, child-friendly, neutral location for supervised visitation to occur between children and their non-custodial parents. Children benefit from continued relationships with their parents even when they are separated due to safety concerns.”
